SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Gerald A. Olszewski of Gurnee, who passed away on April 2, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Gerald Olszewski was born on March 31, 1950 in Chicago; his parents were Bernard and Irene (nee Guzniczak) Olszewski; he lived in Wildwood for many years; and

WHEREAS, Gerald Olszewski proudly served as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War; and

WHEREAS, Gerald Olszewski worked at Midwest Generation in Waukegan as a material and supply coordinator for many years until his retirement on October 1, 2011; and

WHEREAS, Gerald Olszewski was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 15 in Downers Grove; and

WHEREAS, Gerald Olszewski enjoyed going to tractor shows, cooking, trains, antiques, and Sinclair memorabilia; and

WHEREAS, Gerald Olszewski was preceded in death by his parents; a sister-in-law, Karen Olszewski; and a brother-in-law, Richard Francisco; and

WHEREAS, Gerald Olszewski is survived by 4 siblings, Eileen (William) Lechner, Bernard Olszewski, Marcella Francisco, and Allan (Susan) Olszewski; 5 nieces and nephews, Dr. Elizabeth Lechner, Thomas Lechner, Megan Olszewski, Daniel Olszewski, and Kevin Olszewski; a great-nephew, Elliott; and many other relatives and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Gerald A. Olszewski; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Gerald Olszewski as an expression of our sympathy.
