SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Leon C. Zelvis of McHenry, who passed away on March 8, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Leon Zelvis was born on October 1, 1951 in Chicago; his parents were Leon and Aldona Zelvis; and

WHEREAS, Leon Zelvis graduated from McHenry Community High School in 1969, where he actively competed on the tennis team; he continued his education at Northern Illinois University, where he graduated in 1974 with a major in political science; and

WHEREAS, Leon Zelvis was an avid sports fan of Chicago teams and cheered for the White Sox, Blackhawks, and the Bulls; he actively competed in steel and electronic darts; he competed in many dart leagues and won many tournaments and trophies; and

WHEREAS, Leon Zelvis was preceded in death by his father, Leon Zelvis; his sisters, Anita Zelvis Davy and Christine Zelvis; and his niece, Krystyne Szamlewski; and

WHEREAS, Leon Zelvis is survived by his mother, Aldona; his sisters, Cheryl (Raymond) Bolek, Denise (Jon) Ringer, Sue Kopystynsky, Marilyn (Richard) Szamlewski, and Aldonna Zelvis; his nieces, Cecile (Jason) Taylor, Jilaine (Brian) Berquist, Gina (Jeramy) Sherwood, Mykalena, Natasha, and Michaela Kopystynsky, Sharon (Joseph) Spencer, and Melissa (George) Kozlowski; his nephews, Jason (Nicole) Szamlewski and Michael Davy; and his many great-nieces and great-nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Leon C. Zelvis; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Leon Zelvis as an expression of our sympathy.
