SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Leon C. Zelvis of McHenry, who passed
4away on March 8, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Leon Zelvis was born on October 1, 1951 in
6Chicago; his parents were Leon and Aldona Zelvis; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Leon Zelvis graduated from McHenry Community High
8School in 1969, where he actively competed on the tennis team;
9he continued his education at Northern Illinois University,
10where he graduated in 1974 with a major in political science;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, Leon Zelvis was an avid sports fan of Chicago
13teams and cheered for the White Sox, Blackhawks, and the Bulls;
14he actively competed in steel and electronic darts; he competed
15in many dart leagues and won many tournaments and trophies; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Leon Zelvis was preceded in death by his father,
17Leon Zelvis; his sisters, Anita Zelvis Davy and Christine
18Zelvis; and his niece, Krystyne Szamlewski; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Leon Zelvis is survived by his mother, Aldona; his
20sisters, Cheryl (Raymond) Bolek, Denise (Jon) Ringer, Sue

1Kopystynsky, Marilyn (Richard) Szamlewski, and Aldonna Zelvis;
2his nieces, Cecile (Jason) Taylor, Jilaine (Brian) Berquist,

4Kopystynsky, Sharon (Joseph) Spencer, and Melissa (George)
5Kozlowski; his nephews, Jason (Nicole) Szamlewski and Michael
6Davy; and his many great-nieces and great-nephews; therefore,

8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
10family and friends, mourn the passing of Leon C. Zelvis; and be
11it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Leon Zelvis as an expression of our
14sympathy.
