SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Emily Ann G. Lord, who passed away on February 24, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Ann Lord was born to Sankey and Evelyn Thorton in Naperville on January 18, 1931; she graduated from Naperville High School; she received a bachelor's degree from Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa and a master's degree from Northeastern University in Chicago; she married John Lord in 1954; and

WHEREAS, After college, Ann Lord worked as an advertising copy writer and as an on-air personality at KGLO television and radio in Mason City, Iowa, where she met her husband; she later worked as a substitute teacher and then as a speech teacher at Naperville North High School for 20 years and Naperville Central High School for one year; and

WHEREAS, Ann Lord was the well-known concert moderator of Naperville Municipal Band concerts for 66 years, although her affiliation with the band began before that when she played clarinet with the group while she was in high school; she was an accomplished singer and actress who appeared in a number of area theater productions and performed one-woman shows and shows with her daughter, Catherine, at clubs and meetings throughout the area; and

WHEREAS, Ann Lord was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years and her parents; and

WHEREAS, Ann Lord is survived by her children, Steven (Pat) Lord, Catherine (Anthony Cesaretti) Lord, and Douglas (Kelli) Lord; her grandchildren, Julie (Ryan) Jacobi, Robert (Deidre) Lord, Steven (Michelle) Lord, Colleen (Bill) Cesaretti, Connor Cesaretti, Thomas (Katie) Lord, and John (Jodi) Lord; her great-grandchildren, Gilbert Jacobi, Louisa Jacobi, Kennedy Lord, Isaiah Lord, Reagan Lord, and Jace Lord; her niece, Linda Dooley; her grandnephew, John (Chelsea) Dooley; and her great-grandniece, Addison; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Emily Ann G. Lord and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ann Lord as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
