SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Emily Ann G. Lord, who passed away on
4February 24, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ann Lord was born to Sankey and Evelyn Thorton in
6Naperville on January 18, 1931; she graduated from Naperville
7High School; she received a bachelor's degree from Grinnell
8College in Grinnell, Iowa and a master's degree from
9Northeastern University in Chicago; she married John Lord in
101954; and
 
11    WHEREAS, After college, Ann Lord worked as an advertising
12copy writer and as an on-air personality at KGLO television
13and radio in Mason City, Iowa, where she met her husband; she
14later worked as a substitute teacher and then as a speech
15teacher at Naperville North High School for 20 years and
16Naperville Central High School for one year; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Ann Lord was the well-known concert moderator of
18Naperville Municipal Band concerts for 66 years, although her
19affiliation with the band began before that when she played
20clarinet with the group while she was in high school; she was
21an accomplished singer and actress who appeared in a number of
22area theater productions and performed one-woman shows and

1shows with her daughter, Catherine, at clubs and meetings
2throughout the area; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Ann Lord was preceded in death by her husband of
454 years and her parents; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ann Lord is survived by her children, Steven
6(Pat) Lord, Catherine (Anthony Cesaretti) Lord, and Douglas
7(Kelli) Lord; her grandchildren, Julie (Ryan) Jacobi, Robert
8(Deidre) Lord, Steven (Michelle) Lord, Colleen (Bill)
9Cesaretti, Connor Cesaretti, Thomas (Katie) Lord, and John
10(Jodi) Lord; her great-grandchildren, Gilbert Jacobi, Louisa
11Jacobi, Kennedy Lord, Isaiah Lord, Reagan Lord, and Jace Lord;
12her niece, Linda Dooley; her grandnephew, John (Chelsea)
13Dooley; and her great-grandniece, Addison; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Emily Ann G. Lord and extend our sincere condolences to her
17family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Ann Lord as an expression of our
21deepest sympathy.
