SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of James Carl "Jim" Helfers of Cuba, who passed away on February 24, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Jim Helfers was born to Carl and Glenda (Throgmartin) Helfers in Hillsboro on December 19, 1954; he graduated from Minonk-Dana-Rutland (MDR) High School in 1973; he married Kim Hammond in Lewistown on October 16, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Jim Helfers retired from the Steamfitters Union Local #353 in Peoria in 2008; and

WHEREAS, Jim Helfers enjoyed motorcycles; and

WHEREAS, Jim Helfers was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Chuck Helfers; and

WHEREAS, Jim Helfers is survived by his wife; his children, Heidi (the late Troy) Edwards, Heather Helfers, Cody (Jen) Helfers, and Hailey Helfers; his stepson, Brandon Hammond; his brothers, Marty (Teresa) Helfers, Mike (Karen) Helfers, and Danny (Cher) Helfers; his sister, Nancy Hall; and his grandchildren, Kaleb, Austin, Keegan, Skylar, Landon, and Jaclyn; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of James Carl "Jim" Helfers and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jim Helfers as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
