SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Sara Soledad Villanueva of Chicago, who passed away on December 24, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Sara Soledad Villanueva was born on September 23, 1963; following her grandfather, she immigrated to the United States at the age of 13 with her mother and siblings; and

WHEREAS, Sara Soledad Villanueva graduated from William H. Wells High School in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Sara Soledad Villanueva married Teodoro Villanueva on July 10, 1991; and

WHEREAS, Sara Soledad Villanueva attended college part time while working full time, volunteering in her community, and raising her children, Yesenia, Alex, Celina, and Derek; and

WHEREAS, In 2003, Sara Soledad Villanueva graduated from Roosevelt University with a master's degree; and

WHEREAS, For over 25 years, Sara Soledad Villanueva volunteered with Instituto del Progreso Latino and Community Health to help her neighbors succeed academically and lead healthy lives; and

WHEREAS, Sara Soledad Villanueva forged strong bonds with the patients she served; she was described by Community Health as their personal Wonder Woman; and

WHEREAS, In her free time, Sara Soledad Villanueva loved to bike, watch old western movies, and watch the Chicago Bulls; and

WHEREAS, Sara Soledad Villanueva was deeply loved by her family; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Sara Soledad Villanueva and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Sara Soledad Villanueva as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
