SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert M. Evans of Carlinville, who passed away on May 21, 2012; and

WHEREAS, He was born on February 13, 1928 to Morgan and Lula (Understahl) Evans in Fillmore; he married Maxine M. Toberman on November 11, 1951 in Hillsboro; and

WHEREAS, He graduated from Fillmore High School with the class of 1945; he enjoyed playing basketball and baseball in high school and later coached his son's summer baseball teams; and

WHEREAS, He started his career with GTE as a lineman and retired in 1984 as a field engineer; he later worked at the Carlinville Public Library with his wife; and

WHEREAS, He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Carlinville; after retiring he traveled around the country and spent time with his grandchildren; he also was known as one of the best mushroom hunters in the area; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine; his father and mother, Morgan and Lula Evans; his brothers, Kenneth, Arthur, Paul, and Morgan Evans; and his sisters, Ruth Kirkman and Annie Mutka; and

WHEREAS, Robert Evans is survived by his daughter, Sue Elk (husband, Jack); his sons, Ken Evans and Dave Evans (wife, Susan); his grandchildren, Hannah, Joe, Reid, and Sophie Evans; his brother, James "Tip" Evans; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Robert Evans; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert Evans as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
