SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Dr. John Daniel "Dan" Murphy of Peoria, who passed away on March 24, 2012; and

WHEREAS, He was born December 3, 1930, in Manhattan, the son of Daniel Thomas and Evelyn Curran Murphy; he married Connie J. Stoneking on August 25, 1956 in Joliet; and

WHEREAS, He was a graduate of Joliet Catholic High School, Loras College, and the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago; after serving as a physician in the United States Air Force he practiced obstetrics and gynecology in Peoria for 40 years; and

WHEREAS, He was a professor at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria and was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas "Pete" Murphy; and

WHEREAS, Dr. John Murphy is survived by his wife, Connie; his children, Daniel (Deborah) Murphy, Teresa (John) Cassidy, Sarah (Gary) Pearl, Susan (Chris) Bruegge, Patrick (Sylvia) Murphy, and John Joseph (Lee Jennifer) Murphy; his 19 grandchildren; and his sister, Colleen (Howard) Reeves; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Dr. John Murphy; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dr. John Murphy as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
