SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Dr. John Daniel "Dan" Murphy of Peoria,
4who passed away on March 24, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He was born December 3, 1930, in Manhattan, the
6son of Daniel Thomas and Evelyn Curran Murphy; he married
7Connie J. Stoneking on August 25, 1956 in Joliet; and
 
8    WHEREAS, He was a graduate of Joliet Catholic High School,
9Loras College, and the University of Illinois College of
10Medicine at Chicago; after serving as a physician in the United
11States Air Force he practiced obstetrics and gynecology in
12Peoria for 40 years; and
 
13    WHEREAS, He was a professor at the University of Illinois
14College of Medicine at Peoria and was a member of St. Vincent
15de Paul Catholic Church; and
 
16    WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas
17"Pete" Murphy; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Dr. John Murphy is survived by his wife, Connie;
19his children, Daniel (Deborah) Murphy, Teresa (John) Cassidy,
20Sarah (Gary) Pearl, Susan (Chris) Bruegge, Patrick (Sylvia)

1Murphy, and John Joseph (Lee Jennifer) Murphy; his 19
2grandchildren; and his sister, Colleen (Howard) Reeves;
3therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
6his family and friends, the passing of Dr. John Murphy; and be
7it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Dr. John Murphy as a symbol of our
10sincere sympathy.
