SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Lillie Davis, who passed away on August 21, 2011; and

WHEREAS, Lillie Davis was born on June 17, 1913, in Tutwiler, Mississippi; her parents were Howard and Daisy Melton; and

WHEREAS, Lillie Davis accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and became a member of New Hope Baptist Church of Memphis, Tennessee; she was a member of the church's Mother Board for several years and was embraced by everyone that she came into contact with; she spent the majority of her life caring and blessing those she knew and loved; and

WHEREAS, Lillie Davis was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Davis Sr.; her parents; her 12 brothers and sisters; her children, Flabe Hunter and Othie Lee Davis; and her son-in-law, Lucious Hunter; and

WHEREAS, Lillie Davis is survived by her children, Lillie Mae McBride (Gene McBride), Earl Davis Jr., and Louise Davis; her 25 grandchildren; more than 20 great-grandchildren; and her many nieces, nephews, and loved ones; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Lillie Davis; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Lillie Davis as an expression of our sympathy.
