HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Jeanette Clark on her retirement as a member of the Board of Education of the Indian Prairie School District 204; and

WHEREAS, Jeannette Clark served as a member of the Board of Education of the Indian Prairie School District 204 (serving parts of Naperville, Aurora, and Bolingbrook) from 1993 to 2009, a time period that witnessed one of the most substantial periods of population growth in the State's history; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Clark has been recognized by the Illinois Association of School Boards as a Master School Board Member, evidencing her dedication to lifelong learning and a commitment to continuous improvement as a school board member; during the time of Ms. Clark's service, Indian Prairie successfully passed four referenda, hired three superintendents, and opened 11 elementary schools, four middle schools, one high school, two freshman centers, and its innovative Frontier campus, where the district's high school students can earn college credit for $10 while completing high school; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Clark was defined by a local newspaper as the "epitome of community activism" because she possesses a home office devoted to civic work where she often receives more than 100 phone calls per week, and because of her involvement with organizations such as the City of Naperville's Citizens Advisory Committee, the League of Women Voters, and her local church; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Clark's commitment to her civic activities and to her various leadership roles led to her nomination and eventual win of the Citibank Crystal Award in 1996, in which the nominees were selected based on how they contribute to the advancement of women and their many contributions to Naperville; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Clark is the fourth person in the history of Indian Prairie to serve as a school board member for sixteen years, and retired from that role on May 4, 2009; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Ms. Jeanette Clark and wish her the best in her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Ms. Jeanette Clark as a symbol of our respect.
