HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate Jeanette Clark on
4 her retirement as a member of the Board of Education of the
5 Indian Prairie School District 204; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Jeannette Clark served as a member of the Board of
7 Education of the Indian Prairie School District 204 (serving
8 parts of Naperville, Aurora, and Bolingbrook) from 1993 to
9 2009, a time period that witnessed one of the most substantial
10 periods of population growth in the State's history; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Ms. Clark has been recognized by the Illinois
12 Association of School Boards as a Master School Board Member,
13 evidencing her dedication to lifelong learning and a commitment
14 to continuous improvement as a school board member; during the
15 time of Ms. Clark's service, Indian Prairie successfully passed
16 four referenda, hired three superintendents, and opened 11
17 elementary schools, four middle schools, one high school, two
18 freshman centers, and its innovative Frontier campus, where the
19 district's high school students can earn college credit for $10
20 while completing high school; and
 
21     WHEREAS, Ms. Clark was defined by a local newspaper as the
22 "epitome of community activism" because she possesses a home

1 office devoted to civic work where she often receives more than
2 100 phone calls per week, and because of her involvement with
3 organizations such as the City of Naperville's Citizens
4 Advisory Committee, the League of Women Voters, and her local
5 church; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Ms. Clark's commitment to her civic activities and
7 to her various leadership roles led to her nomination and
8 eventual win of the Citibank Crystal Award in 1996, in which
9 the nominees were selected based on how they contribute to the
10 advancement of women and their many contributions to
11 Naperville; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Ms. Clark is the fourth person in the history of
13 Indian Prairie to serve as a school board member for sixteen
14 years, and retired from that role on May 4, 2009; therefore, be
15 it
 
16     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
17 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
18 congratulate Ms. Jeanette Clark and wish her the best in her
19 future endeavors; and be it further
 
20     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21 presented to Ms. Jeanette Clark as a symbol of our respect.
