SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Paul "Hopper" Daniel Masscho of Erie, who passed away on April 26, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Paul Masscho was born to Rene and Betty (Boecher) Masscho in Moline on February 15, 1944; he graduated from Erie High School in 1962; after graduating, he joined the United States Army and served from 1963 to 1966, including eleven months in Vietnam; he married Karen Carpenter at St. Ambrose Church in Erie on March 7, 1964; and

WHEREAS, Paul Masscho worked as a journeyman machinist at Williams-White Company in Moline from 1966 to 1998; he then worked for Planetary Corporation of Davenport and retired in August 2007; and

WHEREAS, Paul Masscho served for 25 years on the Erie Fire Department, retiring in 1994; he was an original member on the Erie Ambulance Service and a member of American Legion Post #582, where he served many years as commander and finance officer; he also served many years as president of the Erie Campground, Inc.; and

WHEREAS, Paul Masscho enjoyed camping, boating, and spending time with his campground family; and

WHEREAS, Paul Masscho is survived by his wife, Karen; his daughters, Teresa (Jerry) Heilman, Dawn (Brett) Garrison, Michele (Jim) Hines, and Nicole (David) Jones; his grandchildren, Nick, Katelyn, and Brad Heilman, Alex and Mathew Garrison, and Nathaniel and Elaina Hines; his great-grandchildren, Chaz, Braxton, and Blaine; his bonus grandchildren, Nathan (Amanda), Chris, Tiffani (Matt), and Chelce (Jon); and his seven bonus great-grandchildren, Quentyn, Warren, Evianna, Adeline, Nolan, Maggie, and Graham; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Paul "Hopper" Daniel Masscho and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Paul Masscho as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
