SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Paul "Hopper" Daniel Masscho of Erie,
4who passed away on April 26, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Paul Masscho was born to Rene and Betty (Boecher)
6Masscho in Moline on February 15, 1944; he graduated from Erie
7High School in 1962; after graduating, he joined the United
8States Army and served from 1963 to 1966, including eleven
9months in Vietnam; he married Karen Carpenter at St. Ambrose
10Church in Erie on March 7, 1964; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Paul Masscho worked as a journeyman machinist at
12Williams-White Company in Moline from 1966 to 1998; he then
13worked for Planetary Corporation of Davenport and retired in
14August 2007; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Paul Masscho served for 25 years on the Erie Fire
16Department, retiring in 1994; he was an original member on the
17Erie Ambulance Service and a member of American Legion Post
18#582, where he served many years as commander and finance
19officer; he also served many years as president of the Erie
20Campground, Inc.; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Paul Masscho enjoyed camping, boating, and

1spending time with his campground family; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Paul Masscho is survived by his wife, Karen; his
3daughters, Teresa (Jerry) Heilman, Dawn (Brett) Garrison,
4Michele (Jim) Hines, and Nicole (David) Jones; his
5grandchildren, Nick, Katelyn, and Brad Heilman, Alex and
6Mathew Garrison, and Nathaniel and Elaina Hines; his
7great-grandchildren, Chaz, Braxton, and Blaine; his bonus
8grandchildren, Nathan (Amanda), Chris, Tiffani (Matt), and
9Chelce (Jon); and his seven bonus great-grandchildren,
10Quentyn, Warren, Evianna, Adeline, Nolan, Maggie, and Graham;
11therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Paul "Hopper" Daniel Masscho and extend our sincere
15condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
16him; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Paul Masscho as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
