SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Eugene Hunter Sr.; and

WHEREAS, Eugene Hunter was born to Flabe and Lucious Hunter in his maternal grandparents' home in Hushpuckena, Mississippi on September 9, 1951; his family moved to Chicago in 1953, and he attended Schiller and Manierre Elementary Schools; he completed his education at Beethoven Elementary School, DuSable Upper Grade Center, and DuSable High School; and

WHEREAS, Eugene Hunter was a strong, loving, and caring big brother to seven younger siblings; and

WHEREAS, Eugene Hunter committed to his faith at an early age; and

WHEREAS, Eugene Hunter was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Lucious Calmese; his sister, Delores; and his younger brother, Calvin; and

WHEREAS, Eugene Hunter is survived by his daughters, Charmtell and Antoinette Taylor; his son, Eugene Hunter Jr.; his sisters, Willie Ruth Calmese, Marilyn Davis, State Sen. Mattie Hunter, Brenda Hunter, Bonita Ersery, and Angela Hunter; his brothers, James Calmese, Curtis Davis, and Donovan Hunter; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and good friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Eugene Hunter Sr. and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Eugene Hunter as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
