SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Richard Clarence "Dick" Hendricks of East Moline, who passed away on September 11, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Dick Hendricks was born in Moline to Clarence L. and Mildred E. (Samuelson) Hendricks on September 8, 1929; he graduated from Moline High School in 1947; he attended Augustana College; he received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois and then his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the Illinois College of Dentistry in 1954; he married Joan W. Herrstrum in Polo in 1953; and

WHEREAS, Dick Hendricks served as a captain in the United States Air Force with Strategic Air Command in Altus, Oklahoma until 1957; he established his dental practice in East Moline in 1957 and retired in 1993; he was a member of the American Dental Association and the Illinois State Dental Society; and

WHEREAS, Dick Hendricks was a member of the East Moline-Silvis Kiwanis for over 50 years; he served on the District 30 School Board, was president of the East Moline Recreation Council, and was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church Board; he enjoyed reading, fishing, hunting, boating, swimming, scuba diving, cycling, photography, woodworking, flying, traveling with his wife and family, and spending time at his summer cabin on Lake Emma in Park Rapids, Minnesota; and

WHEREAS, Dick Hendricks was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Donna Hajdek; and

WHEREAS, Dick Hendricks is survived by his wife of 66 years, Joan; his children, Tom (Annie) Hendricks, Dr. Craig (Sandy) Hendricks, and Denise (Craig) Pelham; his grandchildren, Andrea (Mike) Gryp, Laura-Ann (Ed) Nageia, Ross Hendricks, Mitchell Pelham, and Katie Pelham; his great-grandchildren, Evan, Ethan, Ana-Loren, Gavin, Vivianne, and Caroline Gryp, and Marcelo, Giancarlo, and Leonardo Nageia; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Richard Clarence "Dick" Hendricks and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dick Hendricks as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
