SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Richard Clarence "Dick" Hendricks of East
4Moline, who passed away on September 11, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dick Hendricks was born in Moline to Clarence L.
6and Mildred E. (Samuelson) Hendricks on September 8, 1929; he
7graduated from Moline High School in 1947; he attended
8Augustana College; he received his Bachelor of Science from the
9University of Illinois and then his Doctor of Dental Surgery
10from the Illinois College of Dentistry in 1954; he married Joan
11W. Herrstrum in Polo in 1953; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Dick Hendricks served as a captain in the United
13States Air Force with Strategic Air Command in Altus, Oklahoma
14until 1957; he established his dental practice in East Moline
15in 1957 and retired in 1993; he was a member of the American
16Dental Association and the Illinois State Dental Society; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Dick Hendricks was a member of the East
18Moline-Silvis Kiwanis for over 50 years; he served on the
19District 30 School Board, was president of the East Moline
20Recreation Council, and was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran
21Church Board; he enjoyed reading, fishing, hunting, boating,
22swimming, scuba diving, cycling, photography, woodworking,

1flying, traveling with his wife and family, and spending time
2at his summer cabin on Lake Emma in Park Rapids, Minnesota; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Dick Hendricks was preceded in death by his
4parents and his sister, Donna Hajdek; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dick Hendricks is survived by his wife of 66
6years, Joan; his children, Tom (Annie) Hendricks, Dr. Craig
7(Sandy) Hendricks, and Denise (Craig) Pelham; his
8grandchildren, Andrea (Mike) Gryp, Laura-Ann (Ed) Nageia, Ross
9Hendricks, Mitchell Pelham, and Katie Pelham; his
10great-grandchildren, Evan, Ethan, Ana-Loren, Gavin, Vivianne,
11and Caroline Gryp, and Marcelo, Giancarlo, and Leonardo Nageia;
12therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Richard Clarence "Dick" Hendricks and extend our sincere
16condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
17him; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Dick Hendricks as an expression of
20our deepest sympathy.
