SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Donald N. Tures of Manhattan, who passed away on December 29, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Donald Tures graduated from Joliet Catholic High School in 1950 and from Lewis University; he was a Sergeant with the United States Army Artillery Division during the Korean Conflict; and

WHEREAS, Donald Tures was the owner of Tures Nursery in Peotone for many years; and

WHEREAS, Donald Tures was a member of Peotone American Legion Post 392, Manhattan American Legion Post 935 Honor Guard, and VFW Post 9545; he was also a member of the Will County Farm Bureau; he was a devout member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Manhattan, where he attended mass daily and was a member of the Men's Club; he was a husband, father, and grandfather who will be missed; and

WHEREAS, Donald Tures was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Margaret (Allare) Tures; his sister, Geraldine (Richard) Gollick; his parents-in-law, Joseph and Angela Chmielewski; his brother-in-law, Albert Naal Jr; and his sister-in-law, Judy Chmielewski; and

WHEREAS, Donald Tures is survived by his wife of 61 years, Phyllis (Chmielewski) Tures; his children, Stephen (Julia) Tures, Joseph (Christine) Tures, Robert (Patricia) Tures, Matthew (Monica) Tures, and Dana (Jeffrey) Brandau; his grandchildren, Shelby, Catherine, Stephen, Nicholas, Lauren, and Madeline; his sister, Frances Naal; his brother-in-law, Robert Chmielewski; and his nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Donald N. Tures and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Donald Tures as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
