SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with sadness of the death of Janet G. Harmon of River Forest on Tuesday, April 19, 2005; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Harmon worked at St. Bernardine School for seventeen years; in that time she earned the love and respect of all she came in contact with, whether they be teachers, students, parents or fellow employees; she was a teacher's aide at St. Bernardine, as well as a loyal and active member of the St. Bernardine Parish family; and

WHEREAS, At the school, she was always willing to give a helping hand, especially when it came to welcoming new faculty and staff and helping them feel at home; and

WHEREAS, The greatest impact of Mrs. Harmon's work was through the children she worked with and the influence she had in their lives; her love for children and generosity were qualities that were easily recognizes; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Harmon possessed a delightful wit, an infectious smile, and a warmth that brightened the day of all she touched; and

WHEREAS, She was an avid golfer and a fantastic shopper; she was known for finding bargains and carrying a purse full of coupons; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Harmon is remembered by family, colleagues, and students as a woman of faith, intelligence, generosity, kindness, resourcefulness, mechanical ability, initiative, and dependability; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Janet G. Harmon (nee Gaucher) has been deeply felt by many, especially her husband, Mark; her children, Mark Jr. and Ann, Justin, and Cynthia Harmon; her grandson, Emmett; her siblings, Joseph Gaucher Jr., William and Kathleen Gaucher, Joan and Michael DiGilio, and Barbara and Paul Duffy; and her many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Janet G. Harmon, who truly exemplified selfless service and caring for others, and we extend our deepest sympathy to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to her family as an expression of our sincere condolences for their loss.
