HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the State of Illinois learned with sadness of the combat death in Iraq of USMC Private First Class Sean Thomas Cardelli of Downers Grove on Wednesday, February 1, 2006; and

WHEREAS, PFC Cardelli was assigned to the Third Battalion, Fifth Marine Regiment, First Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force from Camp Pendleton, California; in Iraq, his unit was attached to the Second Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force; and

WHEREAS, He graduated from Lisle High School on June 4, 2004; his teachers always enjoyed having him in class and often commented on his focus and willingness to work hard; he was eager to learn and took direction very well; he was a valued part-time employee at a local hardware store; and

WHEREAS, During his junior and senior year, he was a member of the wrestling team, where he showed that he was diligent and could accept coaching well; he also exhibited a talent and love for art, especially for drawing and painting; prior to enlisting, PFC Cardelli completed the culinary program at the Technology Center of DuPage; and

WHEREAS, The passing of PFC Sean Cardelli has been deeply felt by many, especially his parents, Barbara and John Cardelli; his siblings, Roxane and Darinda; his grandparents, Marylin and Aldo; his nephews, DeShawn and Donovan; and his many friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of USMC Private First Class Sean Cardelli, and we extend our deepest sympathy to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of PFC Cardelli and his willingness to serve his country, which led to him making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our sincerest condolences.
