HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the State of Illinois learned with sadness of the death of their former colleague, Herbert V. Huskey of Palos Heights, on Wednesday, March 22, 2006; and

WHEREAS, Born in Missouri, Mr. Huskey and his family moved to Illinois when he was young, and he became a lifelong resident; he valiantly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during World War II; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Huskey made his living as a businessman and was the founder and owner of Ridgeland Auto Parts Company and a former President of the Automotive Wholesalers of Illinois (AWOI); he was also a shrewd real estate investor; and

WHEREAS, He was an active member of several service organizations and especially enjoyed gardening; and

WHEREAS, He had a passion for politics and served five terms in the Illinois House of Representatives, representing the Oak Lawn area between 1973 and 1982; he was affectionately known as "Mr. Republican of the Southwestern Suburbs", but also had friends across the political aisle; he also served as Worth Township Republican committeeman, village trustee of Oak Lawn, and was a three-time delegate to the Republican National Convention; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Herbert V. Huskey has been deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Sandy; his children, Barbara (Joseph) Theuma, Kathleen (Ron) Simpson, Mary (Bob) Perovich, and Wes (Kathy) Streblo; his grandchildren, Cheryl Novak, Jennifer Campbell, Dan and David Perovich, Lauren Streblo, and Jennifer and Paul Sabella; his eight great-grandchildren; his great-great-grandchild; his sister, Violet Rowe; and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of our former colleague Herbert V. Huskey, who served the people of his district with honor and distinction, and we extend our deepest sympathy to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our sincerest condolences.
