HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the
3 State of Illinois learned with sadness of the death of their
4 former colleague, Herbert V. Huskey of Palos Heights, on
5 Wednesday, March 22, 2006; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Born in Missouri, Mr. Huskey and his family moved
7 to Illinois when he was young, and he became a lifelong
8 resident; he valiantly served his country as a member of the
9 U.S. Army during World War II; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Mr. Huskey made his living as a businessman and
11 was the founder and owner of Ridgeland Auto Parts Company and a
12 former President of the Automotive Wholesalers of Illinois
13 (AWOI); he was also a shrewd real estate investor; and
 
14     WHEREAS, He was an active member of several service
15 organizations and especially enjoyed gardening; and
 
16     WHEREAS, He had a passion for politics and served five
17 terms in the Illinois House of Representatives, representing
18 the Oak Lawn area between 1973 and 1982; he was affectionately
19 known as "Mr. Republican of the Southwestern Suburbs", but also
20 had friends across the political aisle; he also served as Worth
21 Township Republican committeeman, village trustee of Oak Lawn,
22 and was a three-time delegate to the Republican National
23 Convention; and
 
24     WHEREAS, The passing of Herbert V. Huskey has been deeply
25 felt by many, especially his wife, Sandy; his children, Barbara
26 (Joseph) Theuma, Kathleen (Ron) Simpson, Mary (Bob) Perovich,
27 and Wes (Kathy) Streblo; his grandchildren, Cheryl Novak,
28 Jennifer Campbell, Dan and David Perovich, Lauren Streblo, and
29 Jennifer and Paul Sabella; his eight great-grandchildren; his
30 great-great-grandchild; his sister, Violet Rowe; and his many

1 nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
2     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
3 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
4 we mourn the passing of our former colleague Herbert V. Huskey,
5 who served the people of his district with honor and
6 distinction, and we extend our deepest sympathy to his family,
7 friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
8     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9 presented to his family as an expression of our sincerest
10 condolences.
