SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Ruth (Miller) Rau of Panama, who passed away on May 16, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Ruth Rau was born to Hugh Clarence and Carmen Winifred (Bollman) Miller in Hillsboro on June 29, 1941; she graduated from Greenville High School in 1959; she married Otto Rau in Sorento on February 6, 1960; and

WHEREAS, In her younger years, Ruth Rau worked as a phone operator in Sorento and for Webco in Litchfield; she became a homemaker who devoted herself to her family; later in life, she worked for the Sears Catalog and CNB Bank in Hillsboro; and

WHEREAS, Ruth Rau loved spending time in the company of others; she was known for always being a joy to be around and often having a big smile on her face; and

WHEREAS, Ruth Rau was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Darrell Rau; her sister, Wanda Bilyeu; and her brothers, Darrell, Russell, and Donald Miller; and

WHEREAS, Ruth Rau is survived by her husband of 63 years, Otto; her son, Rex (Micki) Rau; her daughter-in-law, Cathy Rau; her grandchildren, Joe Zobrist, Seth Balla, and Sarah (Matt) Lafone; her great-grandson, Jesse Zobrist; her twin sister, Ruby Wallace; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Ruth (Miller) Rau and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further
