SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Ruth (Miller) Rau of Panama, who
4passed away on May 16, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ruth Rau was born to Hugh Clarence and Carmen
6Winifred (Bollman) Miller in Hillsboro on June 29, 1941; she
7graduated from Greenville High School in 1959; she married
8Otto Rau in Sorento on February 6, 1960; and
 
9    WHEREAS, In her younger years, Ruth Rau worked as a phone
10operator in Sorento and for Webco in Litchfield; she became a
11homemaker who devoted herself to her family; later in life,
12she worked for the Sears Catalog and CNB Bank in Hillsboro; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Ruth Rau loved spending time in the company of
14others; she was known for always being a joy to be around and
15often having a big smile on her face; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Ruth Rau was preceded in death by her parents;
17her son, Darrell Rau; her sister, Wanda Bilyeu; and her
18brothers, Darrell, Russell, and Donald Miller; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Ruth Rau is survived by her husband of 63 years,
20Otto; her son, Rex (Micki) Rau; her daughter-in-law, Cathy

1Rau; her grandchildren, Joe Zobrist, Seth Balla, and Sarah
2(Matt) Lafone; her great-grandson, Jesse Zobrist; her twin
3sister, Ruby Wallace; and several nieces, nephews, and
4cousins; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Ruth (Miller) Rau and extend our sincere condolences to her
8family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That we mourn the passing of Ruth Rau and extend
