| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of James L. Rogers Jr. of Rock Island, | 4 | | who passed away on March 3, 2021; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, James Rogers Jr. was born at Fort Benning, | 6 | | Georgia on March 14, 1942; he was the son of James L. and | 7 | | Marion (Berly) Rogers; he graduated from Oberlin College in | 8 | | Ohio, where he was heavily involved in musical theater; he | 9 | | served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War; he then served | 10 | | in the U.S. Navy Reserve and retired as a captain; he married | 11 | | Patricia Ellington in Texas on November 1, 1975; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, James Rogers Jr. was employed by the Boy Scouts | 13 | | of America, where he most recently served with the Illowa | 14 | | Council; he retired in 2009; previously, he worked on his | 15 | | family's citrus farm in Texas; he also owned several | 16 | | businesses; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, James Rogers Jr. was an avid stamp collector, and | 18 | | he belonged to the Blackhawk Stamp Club and the Quad City Stamp | 19 | | Club; he was known for his beautiful baritone voice and | 20 | | performed in a number of musicals in community theater while | 21 | | living in Texas; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, James Rogers Jr. is survived by his wife of 45 | 2 | | years, Patricia; his son and daughter-in-law, John and Erika | 3 | | Rogers; his granddaughter, Mabyn Rogers; his sister, Marion | 4 | | Elizabeth Hensz; his nephew, Curt Bonner; and his nieces, | 5 | | Chris Karenbauer and Cydney Kaminski; therefore, be it
| 6 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | 7 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 8 | | James L. Rogers Jr. and extend our sincere condolences to his | 9 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 10 | | further
| 11 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 12 | | presented to the family of James Rogers Jr. as an expression of | 13 | | our deepest sympathy.
