| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate the members of the U.S. | 4 | | Women's Olympic Hockey Team on winning the silver medal at the | 5 | | 2022 Winter Olympics on February 16th in Beijing; and
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Before advancing to the gold medal match against | 7 | | Canada, the U.S. Women's Team defeated Finland, the Russian | 8 | | Olympic Committee, Switzerland, and the Czech Republic; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, The U.S. Women's Hockey Team has competed against | 10 | | Canada for the Olympic gold medal in every Olympic tournament | 11 | | since the inception of Women's Hockey as an Olympic sport in | 12 | | 1998, with the most recent USA Gold coming in 2018 during the | 13 | | Pyeongyang games; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, The 2022 Olympic gold medal game was a close one, | 15 | | with the U.S. team coming within one goal of tying the | 16 | | Canadians late in the third period; the resulting outcome was | 17 | | simply due to a lack of time as opposed to a lack of | 18 | | determination; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Five women from the great state of Illinois are | 20 | | members of the U.S. Women's Olympic Hockey Team, including | 21 | | Megan Bozek of Buffalo Grove, Savannah Harmon of Downers |

| 1 | | Grove, Jesse Compher of Northbrook, Kendall Coyne Schofield of | 2 | | Palos Heights, and Abbey Murphy of Evergreen Park; therefore, | 3 | | be it
| 4 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | 5 | | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | 6 | | with great pride, we congratulate the U.S. Women's Olympic | 7 | | Hockey Team, especially these great athletes from Illinois, | 8 | | for bringing home the silver medal; and be it further
| 9 | | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be | 10 | | presented to Megan Bozek, Savannah Harmon, Jesse Compher, | 11 | | Kendall Coyne Schofield, and Abbey Murphy as a symbol of our | 12 | | esteem and respect.
