HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate the members of the U.S.
4Women's Olympic Hockey Team on winning the silver medal at the
52022 Winter Olympics on February 16th in Beijing; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Before advancing to the gold medal match against
7Canada, the U.S. Women's Team defeated Finland, the Russian
8Olympic Committee, Switzerland, and the Czech Republic; and
 
9    WHEREAS, The U.S. Women's Hockey Team has competed against
10Canada for the Olympic gold medal in every Olympic tournament
11since the inception of Women's Hockey as an Olympic sport in
121998, with the most recent USA Gold coming in 2018 during the
13Pyeongyang games; and
 
14    WHEREAS, The 2022 Olympic gold medal game was a close one,
15with the U.S. team coming within one goal of tying the
16Canadians late in the third period; the resulting outcome was
17simply due to a lack of time as opposed to a lack of
18determination; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Five women from the great state of Illinois are
20members of the U.S. Women's Olympic Hockey Team, including
21Megan Bozek of Buffalo Grove, Savannah Harmon of Downers

1Grove, Jesse Compher of Northbrook, Kendall Coyne Schofield of
2Palos Heights, and Abbey Murphy of Evergreen Park; therefore,
3be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
5HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
6with great pride, we congratulate the U.S. Women's Olympic
7Hockey Team, especially these great athletes from Illinois,
8for bringing home the silver medal; and be it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
10presented to Megan Bozek, Savannah Harmon, Jesse Compher,
11Kendall Coyne Schofield, and Abbey Murphy as a symbol of our
12esteem and respect.
