HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the Bronzeville Winery on the occasion of its opening; and

WHEREAS, The Bronzeville Winery is a Black-owned restaurant, wine bar, and cultural space located in a new building development on the 4400 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue; and

WHEREAS, The Bronzeville Winery is headed by businesswoman Cecilia Cuff and Bronzeville resident Eric Williams, who is also the founder of the artist space, gallery, and event location Silver Room in Hyde Park and the creator behind the restaurant, juice bar, and magazine shop Square One in Wicker Park; and

WHEREAS, The Bronzeville Winery will include a full wine list with an on-site sommelier, comfort food made from house-grown greens and farm share-supplied produce, a custom sound system and stage for eclectic musicians and DJs, a rotating gallery for local artists, indoor seating for 110 guests, and outdoor seating for about 70 guests; and

WHEREAS, The Bronzeville Winery plans to offer workers access to a paycheck match program to encourage neighborhood home ownership and to host an incubator program to train local talent to learn the skills required to be restaurant owners, chefs, and more; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Bronzeville Winery on its opening, recognize its efforts towards the economic growth of Chicago's South Side, and wish the company the best in its endeavor; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Bronzeville Winery as an expression of our esteem and respect.
