HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate the Bronzeville Winery on
4the occasion of its opening; and
 
5    WHEREAS, The Bronzeville Winery is a Black-owned
6restaurant, wine bar, and cultural space located in a new
7building development on the 4400 block of South Cottage Grove
8Avenue; and
 
9    WHEREAS, The Bronzeville Winery is headed by businesswoman
10Cecilia Cuff and Bronzeville resident Eric Williams, who is
11also the founder of the artist space, gallery, and event
12location Silver Room in Hyde Park and the creator behind the
13restaurant, juice bar, and magazine shop Square One in Wicker
14Park; and
 
15    WHEREAS, The Bronzeville Winery will include a full wine
16list with an on-site sommelier, comfort food made from
17house-grown greens and farm share-supplied produce, a custom
18sound system and stage for eclectic musicians and DJs, a
19rotating gallery for local artists, indoor seating for 110
20guests, and outdoor seating for about 70 guests; and
 
21    WHEREAS, The Bronzeville Winery plans to offer workers

1access to a paycheck match program to encourage neighborhood
2home ownership and to host an incubator program to train local
3talent to learn the skills required to be restaurant owners,
4chefs, and more; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
6HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
7we congratulate the Bronzeville Winery on its opening,
8recognize its efforts towards the economic growth of Chicago's
9South Side, and wish the company the best in its endeavor; and
10be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the Bronzeville Winery as an expression of our
13esteem and respect.
