SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Kent Gilmore Farley of Coal Valley, who passed away on February 5, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Kent Farley was born to Eldridge and Gladys (Gilmore) Farley in Rhodell, West Virginia on February 23, 1938; he served in the U.S. Air Force and graduated from Bradley University; he was a pitcher in the Air Force and for the Bradley University baseball teams; while at Bradley, he compiled an impressive career ERA of 2.29 and batting average of .347; and

WHEREAS, Kent Farley worked for First Midwest Bank, Moline before owning and operating the Country Fair Mall in Coal Valley for the last 30 plus years; and

WHEREAS, Kent Farley was a member of the Elks Club; the most important things in his life were his sons and grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Kent Farley was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Douglas Farley; and

WHEREAS, Kent Farley is survived by his two sons, Gregory Farley and Matthew (Karin) Farley; his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Norah, Iris, and Filip Farley; his sister, Cassie Pyle; and his nieces and nephews, Mark Farley, Scott Farley, Kelly Quick, and Kim Johnson; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Kent Gilmore Farley and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Kent Farley as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
