SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Charles Richard "Dick" Dahl of Orion, who passed away on December 11, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Dick Dahl was born to Charles and Frances (Peterson) Dahl in Orion on February 5, 1928; he served in the U.S. Army; he married Marilyn Abrahamson at St Paul Lutheran Church in Orion on October 1, 1954; and

WHEREAS, Dick Dahl was a lifetime farmer; he also had a passion for photography and spent time as a professional wedding photographer; and

WHEREAS, Dick Dahl served on the Henry County Selective Service Draft Board and was the first elected president of the Henry County Pork Producers; he was a member of the Johnson Round Barn Association and the Henry County Farm Bureau; and

WHEREAS, Dick Dahl was a lifetime member of St. Lutheran Church, where he served as a board member, usher, and Sunday School teacher; he was a member of the VFW and the Orion American Legion; he loved volunteering at the Henry County Historical Society in Bishop Hill; he was a member of a couples card club for over 60 years and a member of several camera clubs; he enjoyed swimming and camping and motorcycled until he was 85; and

WHEREAS, Dick Dahl was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Beatrice Strandlund and Rosemary Jagger; and his brother, William Dahl; and

WHEREAS, Dick Dahl is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his children, Jeffrey (Debbie) Dahl and Jay (Donna) Dahl; his grandchildren, Andy (Jill) Dahl, Kayla (Bryce) Halferty, and Morgan (fiance, Austin Hutcherson) Dahl; his great-grandchildren, Bennett, Bryce, and Brianna Dahl and Brysen Halferty; his brother, James Dahl; and his many nieces and nephew; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Charles Richard "Dick" Dahl and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dick Dahl as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
