SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Charles Richard "Dick" Dahl of Orion,
4who passed away on December 11, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dick Dahl was born to Charles and Frances
6(Peterson) Dahl in Orion on February 5, 1928; he served in the
7U.S. Army; he married Marilyn Abrahamson at St Paul Lutheran
8Church in Orion on October 1, 1954; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Dick Dahl was a lifetime farmer; he also had a
10passion for photography and spent time as a professional
11wedding photographer; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Dick Dahl served on the Henry County Selective
13Service Draft Board and was the first elected president of the
14Henry County Pork Producers; he was a member of the Johnson
15Round Barn Association and the Henry County Farm Bureau; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Dick Dahl was a lifetime member of St. Lutheran
17Church, where he served as a board member, usher, and Sunday
18School teacher; he was a member of the VFW and the Orion
19American Legion; he loved volunteering at the Henry County
20Historical Society in Bishop Hill; he was a member of a couples
21card club for over 60 years and a member of several camera

1clubs; he enjoyed swimming and camping and motorcycled until
2he was 85; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Dick Dahl was preceded in death by his parents;
4his sisters, Beatrice Strandlund and Rosemary Jagger; and his
5brother, William Dahl; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Dick Dahl is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his
7children, Jeffrey (Debbie) Dahl and Jay (Donna) Dahl; his
8grandchildren, Andy (Jill) Dahl, Kayla (Bryce) Halferty, and
9Morgan (fiance, Austin Hutcherson) Dahl; his
10great-grandchildren, Bennett, Bryce, and Brianna Dahl and
11Brysen Halferty; his brother, James Dahl; and his many nieces
12and nephew; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Charles Richard "Dick" Dahl and extend our sincere condolences
16to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
17it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Dick Dahl as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
