SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Ronald Lee "Ron" Stickler of Paris, who passed away on September 5, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Ron Stickler was born to Ted and Mary (Thiel) Stickler in Paris on May 13, 1941; he married Audrey L. Mathias in Shelby County on January 28, 1962; he earned both his bachelor's degree and his master's degree in Agriculture Education from the University of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Ron Stickler worked as an agriculture teacher at Danville Area Community College for over 30 years, where he was proud of implementing the Ag Day program; he previously taught agriculture at Bismarck High School and worked as a farm advisor for the Vermilion County Extension Office; and

WHEREAS, Ron Stickler was a member of the First Christian Church of Paris, where he served in many capacities, including as board chairman, deacon, and usher, and in the Disciples Men Fellowship; he was a member of Lions Clubs International, where he was the immediate past president of the Paris Club and was a past I-E district governor; he served on the Vermilion County Fair Board of Directors for over 50 years; and

WHEREAS, Ron Stickler was known for his selfless service and generosity to many great causes; he enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, tending to his pond, playing euchre, and going on road trips; and

WHEREAS, Ron Stickler was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Jean McKee and Patricia Marrs; and

WHEREAS, Ron Stickler is survived by his wife of 59 years, Audrey L.; his children, Chris (Linda) Stickler, Kent (Kris) Stickler, Michael (Amy) Stickler, and Nicole (Joe) Boose; his grandchildren, Carson (Alivia) Stickler, Molly Stickler, Morgan Stickler, Ashley (Shane) Grime, Erica Stickler, Carly Stickler, Brandon Stickler, Bryson Stickler, Bethany Boose, and Nikayla Boose; his great-grandchildren, Declan Stickler and Eleanor Stickler; his nephews, Greg Marrs, Jim Marrs, and Kenneth McKee; his niece, Becky McKee; his good friends, John Breneman and Mel Woods; and his dog, Millie; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Ronald Lee "Ron" Stickler and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ron Stickler as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
