SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Ronald Lee "Ron" Stickler of Paris,
4who passed away on September 5, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ron Stickler was born to Ted and Mary (Thiel)
6Stickler in Paris on May 13, 1941; he married Audrey L. Mathias
7in Shelby County on January 28, 1962; he earned both his
8bachelor's degree and his master's degree in Agriculture
9Education from the University of Illinois; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Ron Stickler worked as an agriculture teacher at
11Danville Area Community College for over 30 years, where he
12was proud of implementing the Ag Day program; he previously
13taught agriculture at Bismarck High School and worked as a
14farm advisor for the Vermilion County Extension Office; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Ron Stickler was a member of the First Christian
16Church of Paris, where he served in many capacities, including
17as board chairman, deacon, and usher, and in the Disciples Men
18Fellowship; he was a member of Lions Clubs International,
19where he was the immediate past president of the Paris Club and
20was a past I-E district governor; he served on the Vermilion
21County Fair Board of Directors for over 50 years; and

1    WHEREAS, Ron Stickler was known for his selfless service
2and generosity to many great causes; he enjoyed vegetable and
3flower gardening, tending to his pond, playing euchre, and
4going on road trips; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ron Stickler was preceded in death by his parents
6and his sisters, Jean McKee and Patricia Marrs; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Ron Stickler is survived by his wife of 59 years,
8Audrey L.; his children, Chris (Linda) Stickler, Kent (Kris)
9Stickler, Michael (Amy) Stickler, and Nicole (Joe) Boose; his
10grandchildren, Carson (Alivia) Stickler, Molly Stickler,
11Morgan Stickler, Ashley (Shane) Grime, Erica Stickler, Carly
12Stickler, Brandon Stickler, Bryson Stickler, Bethany Boose,
13and Nikayla Boose; his great-grandchildren, Declan Stickler
14and Eleanor Stickler; his nephews, Greg Marrs, Jim Marrs, and
15Kenneth McKee; his niece, Becky McKee; his good friends, John
16Breneman and Mel Woods; and his dog, Millie; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
19Ronald Lee "Ron" Stickler and extend our sincere condolences
20to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
21it further
