SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Anthony "Tony" V. Ventimiglia of Alton, who passed away on August 7, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Tony Ventimiglia was born to Leonardo and Catherine (Pinta) Ventimiglia in Alton on November 4, 1923; he attended Catholic schools in Alton and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton; he married Edith "Edie" Ford at St. Patrick's Church in Alton on April 15, 1944; and

WHEREAS, Tony Ventimiglia and his father founded Midtown Restaurant in Alton in the early 1940s; he and his wife opened Tony's Restaurant in downtown Alton in 1954, where he worked until his retirement; and

WHEREAS, Tony Ventimiglia was the kindest and hardest working man his family has ever known; he loved his family, his friends, his customers, and his restaurant with his whole heart; he was a legend in the Alton restaurant community; and

WHEREAS, Tony Ventimiglia was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Leonard Ventimiglia; and his three sisters, Mary Long, Jo-Kay Butkovich, and Anne Yeck; and

WHEREAS, Tony Ventimiglia is survived by his wife; his son, Michael Ventimiglia; his grandchildren, Paul (Erin) Ventimiglia, Betsy Bechel, Shawna Ventimiglia, and Leonard Ventimiglia III; his ten great-grandchildren; and his sister, Pauline Muehling; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Anthony "Tony" V. Ventimiglia and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Tony Ventimiglia as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
