SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Raymond G. Ethington of Rock Island, who passed away on August 27, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Ethington was born in Chicago to Vern and Mary (Lang) Ethington on September 9, 1930; he served in the U.S. Army as a master sergeant in the 145 Field Artillery Division during the Korean War; he married Marilyn Hanrahan in Rock Island on April 4, 1954, and she preceded him in death on July 20, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Ethington worked at the John Deere Foundry in Silvis; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Ethington was a local Golden Gloves boxing champion in 1949; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Ethington was a former member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and St. Pius X Catholic Church in Rock Island; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Ethington was preceded in death by his son, William Ethington; his brother, Robert Campbell; and his sister, Laverne Abner; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Ethington is survived by his daughters, Tracy Hart (fiance Troy Gaye) and Jane (Mike) Pechacek; his sons, Keith (Sheena) Ethington, Michael (JoBeth) Ethington, and Scott (Michelle) Ethington; his daughter-in-law, Sue Ethington; his 13 grandchildren; his 10 great-grandchildren; his sister, Mary Ellen Samatare; and his brother, William Ethington; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Raymond G. Ethington and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Raymond Ethington as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
