SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Raymond G. Ethington of Rock Island,
4who passed away on August 27, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Raymond Ethington was born in Chicago to Vern and
6Mary (Lang) Ethington on September 9, 1930; he served in the
7U.S. Army as a master sergeant in the 145 Field Artillery
8Division during the Korean War; he married Marilyn Hanrahan in
9Rock Island on April 4, 1954, and she preceded him in death on
10July 20, 2016; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Raymond Ethington worked at the John Deere
12Foundry in Silvis; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Raymond Ethington was a local Golden Gloves
14boxing champion in 1949; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Raymond Ethington was a former member of St.
16Joseph's Catholic Church and St. Pius X Catholic Church in
17Rock Island; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Raymond Ethington was preceded in death by his
19son, William Ethington; his brother, Robert Campbell; and his
20sister, Laverne Abner; and

1    WHEREAS, Raymond Ethington is survived by his daughters,
2Tracy Hart (fiance Troy Gaye) and Jane (Mike) Pechacek; his
3sons, Keith (Sheena) Ethington, Michael (JoBeth) Ethington,
4and Scott (Michelle) Ethington; his daughter-in-law, Sue
5Ethington; his 13 grandchildren; his 10 great-grandchildren;
6his sister, Mary Ellen Samatare; and his brother, William
7Ethington; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Raymond G. Ethington and extend our sincere condolences to his
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Raymond Ethington as an expression
15of our deepest sympathy.
