SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Sylvia L. Bashore of Pontiac, who passed
4away on December 14, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Sylvia Bashore was born in Flanagan to Jacob and
6Thelma {Koopman) Carls on October 22, 1927; she married Raleigh
7Carlin in 1945; she married Leslie L. Bashore at the First
8Lutheran Church in Pontiac on July 3, 1968; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Sylvia Bashore's first career was in bookkeeping;
10she then served as Livingston County Treasurer from 1976 to
112002; she was employed by Jackson Hewitt Tax Service until
122016; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Sylvia Bashore was very active in the community
14throughout the years; she was a member of First Lutheran
15Church, serving on many committees and assisting Les with many
16duties; she was a member of the Pontiac Zonta Club and
17Livingston County Republican Woman, where she held numerous
18board positions; she was also a precinct committeeman for over
1930 years; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Sylvia Bashore always had a smile and a helping
21hand for those who needed it, often putting their needs above

1her own; she was a mentor and listening ear for many; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Sylvia Bashore was preceded in death by her
3husband, Les; her sons, Kenn and Bobby Carlin; her
4stepdaughter, Leslie Ann Rosolino; and her parents; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Sylvia Bashore is survived by her daughter, Jeni
6Chaffer; her grandchildren, Allison (Andy) Anderson and Thera
7Greene; and her great-grandchildren, Carlin, Connor, Aidan,
8and Cameron; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Sylvia L. Bashore and extend our sincere condolences to her
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Sylvia Bashore as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
