SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Roy Fonseca of East Moline, who passed away on October 22, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Roy Fonseca was born in Rock Island to Ben and Elpidia (Martini) Fonseca on December 9, 1938; he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War; he married Shiella (Childers) Allison in Muscatine, Iowa on June 20, 2000; and

WHEREAS, Roy Fonseca retired from John Deere Harvester in East Moline in 1995, after 30 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Roy Fonseca was past commander of VFW Post 2056 and a member of American Legion Post 227, where he was part of the Honor Guard; in 2018, he participated in the Honor Flight of the Quad Cities; and

WHEREAS, Roy Fonseca was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Jessie (Frank) Cassilas and Alfred Fonseca; and his sister-in-law, Beverly Fonseca; and

WHEREAS, Roy Fonseca is survived by his wife, Shiella; his sons, Michael and Joe Fonseca; his stepchildren, Dan Miller, Dawne Miller, and Heather (Blyndon) McLaughlin; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his brother, Manuel Fonseca; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Roy Fonseca and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Roy Fonseca as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
