SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Roy Fonseca of East Moline, who passed
4away on October 22, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Roy Fonseca was born in Rock Island to Ben and
6Elpidia (Martini) Fonseca on December 9, 1938; he served in the
7U.S. Army during the Korean War; he married Shiella (Childers)
8Allison in Muscatine, Iowa on June 20, 2000; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Roy Fonseca retired from John Deere Harvester in
10East Moline in 1995, after 30 years of service; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Roy Fonseca was past commander of VFW Post 2056
12and a member of American Legion Post 227, where he was part of
13the Honor Guard; in 2018, he participated in the Honor Flight
14of the Quad Cities; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Roy Fonseca was preceded in death by his parents;
16his siblings, Jessie (Frank) Cassilas and Alfred Fonseca; and
17his sister-in-law, Beverly Fonseca; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Roy Fonseca is survived by his wife, Shiella; his
19sons, Michael and Joe Fonseca; his stepchildren, Dan Miller,
20Dawne Miller, and Heather (Blyndon) McLaughlin; 10

1grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his brother,
2Manuel Fonseca; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5Roy Fonseca and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
6friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to the family of Roy Fonseca as an expression of our
9deepest sympathy.
