| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Richard Clarence "Dick" Hendricks of East | 4 | | Moline, who passed away on September 11, 2019; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dick Hendricks was born in Moline to Clarence L. | 6 | | and Mildred E. (Samuelson) Hendricks on September 8, 1929; he | 7 | | graduated from Moline High School in 1947; he attended | 8 | | Augustana College; he received his Bachelor of Science from the | 9 | | University of Illinois and then his Doctor of Dental Surgery | 10 | | from the Illinois College of Dentistry in 1954; he married Joan | 11 | | W. Herrstrum in Polo in 1953; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Dick Hendricks served as a captain in the United | 13 | | States Air Force with Strategic Air Command in Altus, Oklahoma | 14 | | until 1957; he established his dental practice in East Moline | 15 | | in 1957 and retired in 1993; he was a member of the American | 16 | | Dental Association and the Illinois State Dental Society; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Dick Hendricks was a member of the East | 18 | | Moline-Silvis Kiwanis for over 50 years; he served on the | 19 | | District 30 School Board, was president of the East Moline | 20 | | Recreation Council, and was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran | 21 | | Church Board; he enjoyed reading, fishing, hunting, boating, | 22 | | swimming, scuba diving, cycling, photography, woodworking, |

| 1 | | flying, traveling with his wife and family, and spending time | 2 | | at his summer cabin on Lake Emma in Park Rapids, Minnesota; and
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Dick Hendricks was preceded in death by his | 4 | | parents and his sister, Donna Hajdek; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dick Hendricks is survived by his wife of 66 | 6 | | years, Joan; his children, Tom (Annie) Hendricks, Dr. Craig | 7 | | (Sandy) Hendricks, and Denise (Craig) Pelham; his | 8 | | grandchildren, Andrea (Mike) Gryp, Laura-Ann (Ed) Nageia, Ross | 9 | | Hendricks, Mitchell Pelham, and Katie Pelham; his | 10 | | great-grandchildren, Evan, Ethan, Ana-Loren, Gavin, Vivianne, | 11 | | and Caroline Gryp, and Marcelo, Giancarlo, and Leonardo Nageia; | 12 | | therefore, be it
| 13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 14 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 15 | | Richard Clarence "Dick" Hendricks and extend our sincere | 16 | | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | 17 | | him; and be it further
