SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Milton "Moose" Johnson of Moline, who passed away on March 2, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Milton Johnson was born in Moline to Elmer and Anna Rose Smarsty Johnson on August 24, 1931; he graduated from Moline High School, where he played on the football team that went undefeated in the 1950s; he served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict; and

WHEREAS, Milton Johnson worked for Iowa-Illinois Gas & Electric Company for many years; and

WHEREAS, Milton Johnson was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Moline and the Moline Boosters Club; he enjoyed attending all Moline sporting events and Moline M Men's football; he also enjoyed going to the casino and having morning coffee at Hy-Vee with friends; in earlier years, he enjoyed Big Band Ballroom Dancing; and

WHEREAS, Milton Johnson was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Don and Ted; his sister, Jackie; and his special niece, Nancy Gardner; and

WHEREAS, Milton Johnson is survived by his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews; his Moline M Men buddies; and his special friends, Leonard, Marty, and Danny; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Milton "Moose" Johnson and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Milton Johnson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
