SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Tom O'Reilly Sr., who passed away on June 9, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Tom O'Reilly was born in Chicago to Kevin and Kathleen (Moran) O'Reilly on May 3, 1937; he spent most of his youth in Waukegan and North Chicago and graduated from North Chicago High School in 1956; he married Carol Bellows on September 30, 1957, and they settled in Mundelein, raising three children; he married Valerie "Val" Coleman in 1982; and

WHEREAS, Tom O'Reilly worked for the Northbrook U.S. Post Office from 1960 until his retirement in 1992; in his later years, he worked part time as a floral delivery man; and

WHEREAS, Tom O'Reilly was an avid hunter and enthusiastic fisherman; he enjoyed taking hikes and took advantage of the trails in Lake County; he coached baseball and football in Mundelein; he enjoyed traveling and socializing with family, friends, and neighbors; and

WHEREAS, Tom O'Reilly was preceded in death by his wife, Val; his parents; and his siblings, Kevin Jr. (Gerry) and Ellen (Slagle) O'Reilly; and

WHEREAS, Tom O'Reilly is survived by his children, Tom Jr., Patty Popp, and John; his grandchildren, Justin Popp and Ryan and Mickey O'Reilly; his son-in-law, Steve Popp; his daughter-in-law, Mary O'Reilly (Tom Jr.); and relatives from both the O'Reilly and Moran sides of the family; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Tom O'Reilly Sr. and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Tom O'Reilly as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
