SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Tom O'Reilly Sr., who passed away on June
49, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Tom O'Reilly was born in Chicago to Kevin and
6Kathleen (Moran) O'Reilly on May 3, 1937; he spent most of his
7youth in Waukegan and North Chicago and graduated from North
8Chicago High School in 1956; he married Carol Bellows on
9September 30, 1957, and they settled in Mundelein, raising
10three children; he married Valerie "Val" Coleman in 1982; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Tom O'Reilly worked for the Northbrook U.S. Post
12Office from 1960 until his retirement in 1992; in his later
13years, he worked part time as a floral delivery man; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Tom O'Reilly was an avid hunter and enthusiastic
15fisherman; he enjoyed taking hikes and took advantage of the
16trails in Lake County; he coached baseball and football in
17Mundelein; he enjoyed traveling and socializing with family,
18friends, and neighbors; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Tom O'Reilly was preceded in death by his wife,
20Val; his parents; and his siblings, Kevin Jr. (Gerry) and Ellen
21(Slagle) O'Reilly; and

1    WHEREAS, Tom O'Reilly is survived by his children, Tom Jr.,
2Patty Popp, and John; his grandchildren, Justin Popp and Ryan
3and Mickey O'Reilly; his son-in-law, Steve Popp; his
4daughter-in-law, Mary O'Reilly (Tom Jr.); and relatives from
5both the O'Reilly and Moran sides of the family; therefore, be
6it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Tom O'Reilly Sr. and extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Tom O'Reilly as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
