The Department of Healthcare and Family Services estimates that the program of benefits described in HB 223 (H-AM 1) could cost $3.5-$5 billion on an annual basis and full enrollment. Between 35%-45% of the cost will be funded by the federal government due to the Medical Assistance expansion under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Other service costs may also receive federal assistance, but that value cannot be determined at this time. Please note this estimate does not include what is expected to be significant administrative costs necessary to enroll, implement, and manage said program expansion. |
