Senate Sponsors: JACOBS. Short description: EPA-ABANDONED RAILROAD TIES Synopsis of Bill as introduced: Amends the Environmental Protection Act. Provides that not later than 180 days after railroad ties owned by a railroad company become abandoned, the railroad company must recycle or destroy the abandoned railroad ties. Provides that the railroad company must retain ownership of the abandoned railroad ties until they are recycled or destroyed. Makes violation of the provisions a petty offense. Effective July 1, 2000.
