 2        AMENDMENT NO.     .  Amend House Bill 427 on page 1, line
 3    21, by changing "long-term" to "long term"; and

 4    on page 2, line 21, by changing  "home-like"  to  "homelike";
 5    and

 6    on page 2, line 25, by changing "half-way" to "halfway"; and

 7    on  page  4, lines 1 and 4, by changing "long-term" each time
 8    it appears to "long term"; and

 9    on page 4, line 6, by changing "beds" to "and sheltered  care
10    beds"; and

11    on  page  4,  line  31,  by  changing "facility" to "facility
12    licensed under the Hospice Program Licensing Act"; and

13    on page 5, line 1, by  changing  "on  Aging"  to  "of  Public
14    Health"; and

15    on  page  5,  line 2, by changing "Aging" to "Public Health";
16    and

17    on page 5, line 10, by changing "application" to "application

16    the   following:  reminding  residents  to  take  medication,
17    reading the  medication  label  to  residents,  checking  the
18    self-administered  medication dosage against the label of the
19    medication, confirming that residents have obtained  and  are
20    taking  the  dosage as prescribed, and documenting in writing
21    that  the  resident  has  taken  (or  refused  to  take)  the
22    medication.  If residents are physically unable to  open  the
23    container, the container may be opened for them.  Supervision
24    of  self-administered medication shall be under the direction
25    of a licensed health care professional.
26        For   the   purposes   of   this   Section,   "medication
27    administration" refers to a licensed health care professional
28    employed by an establishment engaging in"; and

29    on page 21 by deleting line 1; and

30    on page 21 by replacing lines 7 and 8 with the following:

 1    "medication  reminders,  supervision   of   self-administered
 2    medication, and medication administration.
 3        Nothing  in  this Act shall preclude a physician licensed
 4    to practice medicine  in  all  its  branches  from  providing
 5    services to any resident."; and

 7        "her needs and no resident representative residing in the
 8        establishment has been appointed to"; and

 9    on page 22 by replacing lines 14 and 15 with the following:
10        "administered   by  a  qualified,  licensed  health  care

 6    "representative, or both, and the long term  care  ombudsman,
 7    which shall include the reason for"; and

 6    "care  license  to  a  license under this Act.  Any sheltered
 7    care facility that chooses to convert, in whole or  in  part,
 8    shall  follow  the  requirements in the Nursing Home Care Act

10    closure and notice to residents."; and

15        "(c)  No person shall be accepted for residency or remain

19        Assessment of Primary Degenerative Dementia;
20             (2)  the  person  is dangerous to self or others and
21        the establishment would be unable to eliminate the danger
22        through the use of appropriate treatment modalities; or
23             (3)  the  person  meets  the  criteria  provided  in
24        Section 75 of this Act."; and

25    on page 36 by deleting lines 1 and 2; and

26    on page  36  by  replacing  lines  30  through  32  with  the
27    following:
28        "patterns to respond to the needs of residents."; and

29    on page 37 by replacing lines 5 and 6 with the following:
