1 AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 431
2 AMENDMENT NO. . Amend Senate Bill 431 on page 17, in
3 line 16, after "members.", by inserting the following:
4 "An identical vote by 5 members of the Task Group shall
5 constitute a majority vote."; and
6 on page 18, by replacing lines 21 through 29 with the
7 following:
8 ". By September 30, 1997, the Scientific Surveys shall (i)
9 complete a Statewide screening of the State using available
10 information and the Surveys' geography-based information
11 system to produce individual and composite maps showing the
12 application of individual criteria; (ii) complete the
13 evaluation of all land volunteered before the effective date
14 of this amendatory Act of 1997 and identify at least 10
15 locations, each of at least 640 acres, that appear likely to
16 meet the criteria. In addition to"; and
17 on page 19, by replacing line 8 with the following:
18 "this Act. Upon completion of the screening and volunteer
19 site evaluation process, the Director of the Department of
20 Natural Resources shall be replaced on the Task Group by a
21 member appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Senate.
22 The member appointed to replace the Director of the
23 Department of Natural Resources shall have expertise that the

1 Governor determines to be appropriate."; and
2 on page 19, in line 13, after "municipalities", by inserting
3 "and after holding 3 public hearings throughout the State".
