HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate the Decalogue Society of
4Lawyers on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of its
5founding on July 11, 2024; and
 
6    WHEREAS, The Decalogue Society of Lawyers was founded in
71934 to fight anti-Semitism and all forms of discrimination
8and intolerance; and
 
9    WHEREAS, The Decalogue Society of Lawyers is the oldest
10Jewish bar association in the United States; and
 
11    WHEREAS, The Decalogue Society of Lawyers promotes public
12education and legal action to protect the rights and
13privileges of all people; and
 
14    WHEREAS, The Decalogue Society of Lawyers has remained
15ever vigilant against public and private practices that
16perpetuate racial and religious hatred or are insensitive of
17the needs of Jewish people; and
 
18    WHEREAS, The members of the Decalogue Society of Lawyers
19participate in social action, render useful community service,
20and cooperate in movements for the public welfare; and

1    WHEREAS, The Decalogue Society of Lawyers provides free
2continuing legal education to assist its members in becoming
3better informed and skilled lawyers; and
 
4    WHEREAS, The Decalogue Society of Lawyers supports student
5chapters at Illinois law schools to encourage law students and
6young lawyers to incorporate the ideals of religious freedom,
7racial tolerance, and public service into their future
8careers; and
 
9    WHEREAS, The members of the Decalogue Society of Lawyers
10have worked diligently to bring increased dignity and honor to
11the legal profession for 90 years; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
13HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14we congratulate the Decalogue Society of Lawyers, outgoing
15President Judge Megan Goldish, incoming President Joel B.
16Bruckman, and all members of its executive committee and board
17of managers on the 90th anniversary of its founding; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
20presented to the Decalogue Society of Lawyers as a symbol of
21our respect and esteem.
